What areas do you cover?
I'm based in Richmond in west London and cover a large area including London, Surrey, Sussex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Kent, Essex and Sussex. Travel is included to locations within a 20 mile radius of Richmond, but I'm happy to travel further afield with just a modest charge for additional mileage.
What pets do you photograph?
Hounds and horses, of course. All sorts of dogs and cats. I've also photographed reptiles and rabbits, rare breed sheep and rodents for clients. I love doing interesting commissions for unusual pets - just ask.
Should I choose a studio shoot or outdoors?
I offer photo sessions in the studio or on location - the choice is yours. A studio session is a chance to create some unique images of your dog, a very polished look, perfect for canvases and wall art, and something very special that you'll treasure for years. Location shoots can take place at your home or garden, at a favourite beauty spot, a local park or beach, wherever your dog is most comfortable. They tend to be more informal, a great opportunity to catch some great action shots or pretty portraits in the best of the natural light. For more information check out this article.
Do you offer weekend or evening appointments?
Yes. I offer Saturday and Sunday appointments and evening photoshoots at no extra charge, so you can always fit in an appointment with me round a busy working life.
My dog is nervous/difficult/nutty - can you cope?
Yes! Difficult dogs are my forte. I always give nervous dogs bags of time to settle. I work with rescue animals and understand that they sometimes have special needs and need sensitive handling. And I love canine hooligans. I have photographed literally thousands of dogs professionally and have worked with all sorts of personalities. I'm confident we can work together to get some great images of your pet.
My dog is black/white and very difficult to photograph...
Don't worry - I've got this one! I know how to work with the light on outdoor shoots to avoid the "black dog blob" syndrome. And how to light difficult subjects like black dogs and white ones in studio to make them pop. Check out the galleries for some examples.
Can you photograph me and my pet together?
Absolutely! the photographs we have taken with our pets become so important with the passing years. Doesn't matter if you are camera shy - just trust me!
How much notice do you need for a photoshoot?
I offer a limited number of pet photoshoots each month and the slots typically book up fast. Some times of year, like Christmas, are particularly busy, and the weekend slots are always popular. I typically book at least a month ahead. But I understand that life sometimes throws a curve ball. If your dog is ill and has limited time left, I'll do my best to fit you in very quickly, to capture your dog and the special bond between you.
What if it's raining?
Unsettled weather can actually produce some fabulous backdrops for outdoor shoots. But if the weather is rotten we can always postpone to another day - in fact I always book you a reserve slot too if it's an outdoor shoot, just in case of the weather. I'm an obsessive planner...
Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Yes. A pet photography gift voucher from madaboutgreys is the perfect present for dog lovers, for Christmas, for birthdays or for anniversaries. You can order a gift voucher for one of my photoshoot packages. Or you could buy a voucher for a specific amount which can be used towards a photoshoot, some prints or a canvas. If you're booking in good time I'll pop your voucher in the post all gift wrapped prettily and ready to go. If it's a last minute panic, I can send your voucher by email. Check out madaboutgreys gift vouchers here.
Are you insured?
Yes. I carry public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
What happens after the shoot?
I'll process your images carefully to make them shine and upload your proofs to a private viewing gallery. From here you can make your choices about prints and other products.
What are your print prices?
Prints start at £25 for prints up to A4 size. Canvases start at £160. Just ask for a full price list when you book.
